Built by Christian Isley around 1788 in eastern Guilford County, this log house features a fieldstone
chimney with a large fireplace in the kitchen and a five-plate stove in the Stove Room. Christian and Mary
Isley had thirteen children, and owned 300 acres of land along Rock Creek.
Purchased in 1972, it was moved from its original site so that museum staff could supervise its restoration
and operation. Guided tours allow visitors to see furnishings typical of those found in Piedmont North
Carolina in the early nineteenth century.
