"People here know how to work together and know how to help each other. We have the temple and we go to the temple, meet each other and we keep each other like brothers and sisters".
-Chin Chhum

The Cambodia that I've gone to visit, I see that it has prospered a lot because of the dollars from America sent by us Khmers who helped sponsor ceremonies and donations. And also some Khmers are nationalistic, and they worked to rebuild the country, make it pretty and prosperous again.

A Return to Cambodia

"I maintain hope that one day, my country, Cambodia, will not be completely erased off of the map. It will sustain and revive itself. I have belief in my birthplace."
- Kep Kong

Cambodian Americans still have faith in the future of their homeland. They have worked hard to locate their relatives after being separated during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. Many Greensboro families send money to support relatives in Cambodia.

Many younger Cambodian Americans were born in refugee camps or in the United States. Now, through travel and the internet, they are becoming acquainted with a homeland they have never known.

"I still love my homeland but I needed to come [to America] and save my life first. Once we have survived, then we can go and serve."
- Hun Som
